In 2025, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. To commemorate this milestone, the Trust and Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides are hosting short talks on the history of our early military — highlighting figures such as Commodore John Barry, the founder of the Navy, and Samuel Nicholas, the first Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Join a knowledgeable guide at the John Barry statue on Independence Square from 12 PM to 1 PM and 5 PM to 6 PM for friendly chats and historical insights.
