The Independence Historical Trust now accepts Cryptocurrency donations. It is the policy of the Trust, like gifts of stock, to liquidate digital assets as soon as practicable so the proceeds can be put to work immediately in support of our organization and projects.
The IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property; therefore, cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes.
