Independence Historical Trust is a philanthropic nonprofit organization that partners with Independence National Historical Park-the national park that protects, preserves, and interprets Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Washington Square, and the more than 54 historic acres located in the City of Philadelphia. Over our 50+ year history, we have purchased or acquired more than 1,000 artifacts for the park’s permanent collections, fundraised for major public spaces within the park, and provided educational tours and programs to visitors and locals alike.
The Trust is pleased to present an extraordinary giving opportunity to be part of the Grand Reopening of the First Bank of the United States, the financial institution envisioned and championed by Alexander Hamilton to help stabilize the nation’s economy in its earliest days. After more than two years of careful renovation and preservation, the First Bank will reopen in July 2026 to the public for the first time in decades. The reopening will be preceded by a gala on June 16, 2026 featuring a cocktail hour, seated dinner, and entertainment, celebrating the efforts to restore this landmark of American ingenuity and leadership.
